Accounting Opportunities Experience

Share your story with students all November in high schools throughout Louisiana!
Many students make career decisions before entering college. Now, more than ever, it’s important to share with high school students the opportunities available with a career in accounting. The best way to do that is for them to hear from CPAs. It's time to share your story!
LCPA is hosting Accounting Opportunities Experience, a month-long career awareness program in November, created to help Louisiana high school students better understand the exciting and challenging roles that CPAs play in the business world.
CPAs, CPA candidates, and accounting majors are needed to visit local high schools to speak with diverse high school students about the best part of their career journey, what an average day looks like, how they use their skills to solve problems, and what to expect in college.
How It Works
- LCPA will provide materials, including PPT, handouts, and presentation tips for engaging with students.
Check out the classroom materials. - You can utilize your contacts with local high schools, teachers, and principals to schedule a 30-minute to 1-hour presentation, based on your availability. Consider schools close to your home or work, or where your kids attend, or where you attended high school, and reach out as an alum. You'll have more influence by reaching out to schools/teachers directly.
- Let us know when you'll be presenting and how many students you'll reach. Materials are provided to prepare you for your scheduled presentation.
- You can pair with another volunteer presenter — let us know if we can help find a co-presenter.
- Don't have a connection but want to participate? We'll work to make a match in your area.
- If you’re unavailable in November, you can still indicate your interest in volunteering for LCPA's career outreach efforts.
