Overview
Are You Ready for the New Standards?
Beginning in 2025, the AICPA Quality Management (QM) Standards will usher in a host of new requirements. The first half of this course is designed to discuss the process of implementing the QM Standards. During the second half, participants will work on their firm's QM implementation process, including identifying potential quality risks, assessing those risks, developing responses, and meeting the new QM documentation standards.
Join Paul Pierson (Senior Director, Peer Review & Professional Standards) and Heather Lindquist (Senior Director, Peer Review & Professional Standards) for this hands-on workshop. Paul and Heather are both with the Illinois CPA Society.
Objectives
The learning objectives are as follows:
• Understand Quality Management (QM) Standards basics
• Delve into QM Standards implementation
• Assess quality risks and develop responses to those risks
• Learn methodology for meeting QM documentation requirements

Heather Lindquist, Illinois CPA Society
Heather Lindquist, CPA is Assistant Director of Peer Review & Professional Standards for the Illinois CPA Society which administers the AICPA Peer Review Program for seven states under the umbrella of the Peer Review Alliance. Heather currently serves on the AICPA Peer Review Board’s Technical Reviewer Advisory Task Force and acts as its liaison to the Board’s Education and Communications Task Force. A graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University, Heather spent six years with RSM US LLP working on not-for-profit and local government audits before joining the Illinois CPA Society in 2016. Heather’s work centers around peer review, but she also serves as a staff representative for the Illinois CPA Society’s Audit and Assurance Services Committee.
Paul Pierson, Illinois CPA Society
Paul Pierson, CPA is Senior Director of Peer Review & Professional Standards for the Illinois CPA Society. In this capacity, he oversees the administration of the Peer Review Program for approximately 1,800 CPA firms in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, South Carolina, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Paul currently serves on the AICPA Peer Review Board’s Oversight Task Force and CPA on Staff Advisory Task Force. Paul graduated from Illinois State University with a BS in Accounting and was an audit manager and peer review team member with a large, local CPA firm in East Peoria, Illinois prior to joining the Society.
