Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities is in need of a finance manager for its PRIME TIME Head Start program who also understands that children aren’t just a number! Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics from an accredited four-year university is required.
- CPA or MBA preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in finance and/or accounting.
- Experience with financial statement analysis, strong
- understanding of non-profit finance concepts.
- Thorough understanding of GAAP and statutory accounting principles.
- Knowledge in accounting systems like QuickBooks, Intaact.
- Not-for-profit experience highly desired.
Core Skills:
- Advanced MS Excel skills.
- Ability to use mathematics to solve problems.
- Capability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Proficiency in identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.
- Capacity to compile, code, categorize, calculate, tabulate, and audit information or data.
- Highest standards of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with colleagues and partners.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- High degree of integrity and work ethic.
Essential Job Duties:
- Coordinates with the COO and other Finance Manager for the preparation of application budgets, the annual operating budget, and financial forecasts.
- Responsible for the day-to-day general ledger accounting and reconciliation, financial reporting and analysis for assigned divisions.
- Ensures all revenue and expense are properly accounted for in the annual budget for assigned divisions.
- Provide relevant and accurate reporting and analysis of financial data against historical, budgeted, and forecasted results.
- Monitor variances, investigate inconsistencies, identify trends, and recommend appropriate actions.
- Perform monthly balance sheet, income statement and changes in financial position/budget variance analysis.
- Assists assigned division leaders with interpretation of program financial results, researches questionable issues, including budget variances, overlapping budget years and multiple funding sources.
- Supports the monthly close process through the timely closing of book including the processing of journal entries and reconciliation of GL accounts, and creation of financial reports.
- Analyze data to ensure proper accounting procedures have been followed.
- Prepare financial reports, charts, tables and other exhibits as requested for assigned divisions.
- Maintain and develop various financial models and standard templates distributed for use by all during the planning processes, ensuring quality, accuracy and focused analytic review.
- Understand and facilitate the integration of business processes, people, and relevant technology, to identify, configure, and communicate useful information, and to provide practical business leadership to drive business decision making across LEH.
- Investigate and report to the COO any inconsistencies or improprieties.
- Assists with preparation of audits, as required.
- Prepares external reporting for assigned divisions and submits to VP of Finance for approval.
- Assures application of not-for-profit accounting practices and procedures.
- Maintain high-level of expertise in specialized areas through professional development, individual contacts, and attendance at appropriate meetings.
- Records receipts and prepare deposits when required.
- Maintains Finance Department’s filing system.
- Develop sustainable organization-wide initiatives that align with the mission of LEH and PRIME TIME.
