Overview

Privately held businesses often represent the largest and most complex asset in an owner’s estate, making thoughtful planning essential for both family and business continuity. Nene Gianfala, CPA and Vanessa Claiborne, CPA, explore practical strategies for integrating estate planning with business succession planning, including ownership transitions, and tax-efficient wealth transfers.

Participants will gain insight into common planning tools and structures used in closely held companies, as well as the role valuation plays in supporting gifting strategies, buy-sell agreements, and generational transfers. The session will also address how advisors can help business owners align personal estate goals with long-term business sustainability and continuity. Proper planning can reduce the risk of disputes, unexpected tax burdens, or operational disruption during ownership transitions.
